A BETTER CHRISTMAS

T

he United States Secret Service, in collaboration with the Los Angeles Police Department, hosted “A Better Christmas” on Wednesday, December 14th at Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women & Children.

The Secret Service provided gifts for the children, and roses for the women. Their mission was to accompany Santa as he presented gifts to the children that attended. Secret Service agents, dressed as elves, gave roses to each of the women. Everyone had the opportunity to have their photo taken with Santa, and the Good Shepherd Center residents seemed starstruck by the police officers and Secret Service agents that were there to serve them. Pastor Gabriel Kim and Soo Kim, from the neighboring Solid Rock Church, also provided gifts for each of the women.

A delicious Christmas dinner was catered by “The Village Kitchen” and served by officers from the LAPD.

“A Better Christmas” is an annual event at Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women & Children.

MOTHERS DAY

M

other’s Day is always a special time at Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women & Children and this year was no exception.

Many thanks to employees from “Splendid”, for providing a “Pre-Mother’s Day” event on April 27th for women living at Good Shepherd Center. Mother’s enjoyed playing Bingo, while the children engaged in arts and crafts (making gifts for their mothers). Parting gifts for the mothers were provided by “Splendid” and “Rosie Jane.”

“Baked by Melissa” (cupcakes) and flower arrangements by Sigma Eta Pi added “icing on the cake” to the days festivities.
