Food that Warms Lives

The Village Kitchen ("TVK") gives homeless women marketable skills to reintroduce themselves into society. TVK takes a revolutionary approach to solving the homeless problem, and it works. TVK’s food is amazing, reasonably priced and gets women off the street.
TVK is a retail bakery and café’ that serves breakfast, lunch and (to go) dinner to the public, as well as caters for events of all sizes. The food is delicious, especially the award winning red velvet cupcakes, but the magical ingredients are the women who work there. TVK is also an onsite vocational training program in the culinary arts for the residents of Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women & Children. It is one of the few culinary arts vocational programs in the country that provides training and operates as a business.
During the three month program, the women learn to prepare baked goods, salads, soups, and savory dishes for TVK’s dine-in, take-out and catering customers. In addition, they receive training in customer service, kitchen safety and sanitation.
Homeless women and their children are the most fragile group among the homeless population. Our mission is to empower women and their children to move from homelessness to self-sufficiency, through housing, employment and support services offered with dignity and love.
Bridgette, a graduate of TVK's culinary arts training program expresses gratitude to Catholic Charites, Good Shepherd Center and TVK for giving her a new start in life.
Try our food and support our organization and you too can help in taking a step toward ending the homeless population of Los Angeles.
