The Employment and Client Services Center empowers women to achieve financial independence through job training and placement, case management, and Life Skills education. All Good Shepherd Center residents have access to the following services:

  • Computer Lab
A computer lab with 14 workstations is available to all residents. Classes on Microsoft Office and other basic computer skills are offered, and women may receive a certificate of completion.

  • Life Skills Training Workshops
All residents are encouraged to attend these classes which cover a variety of topics such as housing rights, job interview skills, health concerns, stress management, budgeting, personal safety and other issues related to independent living.

  • Job Development and Employment Services
An on-site job coordinator is available to assist all residents with resume writing, interview skills and job searches.  As part of our workforce development program, Good Shepherd Center also partners with several agencies and organizations that assist the women with job placement and career counseling and conduct on-site training and workshops. Currently our partner agencies include:
    - Service, Employment and Redevelopment (SER) - Jobs for Progress
    - City of Los Angeles Department of Aging
    - State of California Dept. of Rehabilitation (DOR)
    - MetroNorth Worksource Center, a program of Goodwill Industries
    - Westlake Worksource Center
    - Hollywood Worksource Center
    - California State Employment Development Department (EDD)
    - Donor Services Group

  • Referrals to Community Services
We work with many partners to help our residents attain their goals and achieve independent living. At the Employment and Client Service Center, residents receive referrals for additional social services available in the community.

  • Work Appropriate Attire
A partnership with Dress for Success outfits the women who have interviews and are entering the work force.
